Chief Technology Officer

Britt Shaw has been the Chief Technology Officer for Elkin City Schools since 2005. He has over 30 years of experience in the private and government IT fields. He was one of the leaders in bringing WinstonNet to Elkin City Schools and the surrounding areas to provide faster Internet for schools when they were still limited to T1’s. Britt has also presented technology solutions at several conferences in NC.

 

He has worked as a programmer, systems analyst, computer technician, network engineer, web developer and CTO in multiple school districts in North Carolina. Britt served as the system lead for NCWise and PowerSchool until they could provide someone in that role. He has also worked with the ECS finance department to develop a web based Budget Request system which won an award from the NC Department of Public Instruction.

 

Britt leads a team of three dedicated technicians across the district who provide essential technology support to students, staff, and administrators. Under Britt’s leadership, the team ensures that devices, networks, and instructional technology run as smoothly as possible, minimizing interruptions and supporting continuous student learning. By combining technical expertise, Britt and his team play a vital role in maintaining reliable, innovative tools that enhance teaching and learning across Elkin City Schools.

 

His goal is to provide cost effective solutions for the ever changing technological needs of the school system.

 

Britt enjoys to travel, reading, and spending time with his family.
