Assistant Principal for Elkin Middle & Elkin High Schools
Mr. Marcus Wilmoth serves as the Assistant Principal at Elkin Middle and High School. With over 11 years of experience in both regular and special education, he is passionate about creating a positive, supportive learning environment where every student and staff member can thrive.
Mr. Wilmoth has been with Elkin City Schools since 2016 as a Health/Physical Education and Special Education teacher. Mr. Wilmoth also served as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach as well as Assistant Men's and Women's Soccer Coach. He has actively been involved in leadership roles on the School Improvement Team, School Health Advisory Committee, and as a representative for both NCTIES and the RCOE Public School Partnership.
He is a member of the North Carolina Principal Fellows Program at Appalachian State University, where he is pursuing a master’s degree in School Administration. Mr. Wilmoth currently holds a Master’s in Special Education and a Bachelor’s in Physical and Health Education from Appalachian State as well.
His journey in education has taken him through various roles in Watauga County and Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, and even into college athletics as an assistant basketball coach at Lees-McRae College.
"Outside of school, I’ve been happily married to my wife, Mary Ann Wilmoth, for eight years. We have three wonderful children: Jeryd (6), Jonah (4), and Jetlee (2). Family is at the heart of everything I do, and I am excited to bring that same sense of care and commitment to the students, staff, and families of Elkin Middle and High School," says Wilmoth.
