What does this project do?
"Vision in Bloom" is an Elkin City Schools initiative supporting Project SIGHT, a nonprofit organization based out of Durham Tech Community College. This partnership provides our students with essential visual aid resources while offering vital hands-on training for Durham Tech students working to become Licensed Dispensing Opticians.”
When will the project launch?
"Vision in Bloom" project launch will be held every April to raise funds for annual goal. However even though the fund raiser launch will just be held in the month of April, supporters are encourage to donate any time of the year.
What does this project provide?
"Vision in Bloom" provides:
- Free glasses
- Free eye exams
- Free services from volunteer optometrists
- Free replacements within a year
Provides Direct Academic Student Support
- Removes vision obstacles
- Helps students stay engaged
- Increase leadership
- Boost Confidence
- Decrease Behavioral Problems
When will the clinic be held?
"Vision in Bloom" clinic is held every December at our Elementary School. The school will provide more information about the clinic closer to December.
What are the past statistics from this project?
In December of 2025 - This project provided $4,333.00 worth of FREE vision care to ECS students:
- 25 Elkin students received a FREE comprehensive eye exam (estimated at $2,500)
- 47 pairs of FREE glasses were provided to our students (estimated at $1,833)
