In the Spotlight - 10-31-2022

I want to thank these educational leaders for their passion and dedication to their staff, students and parents.  Throughout the school year, these principals accept the commitment to lead our young people to a prosperous future. They support and guide our teachers and staff, which results in a productive learning environment for all students where their social, emotional and academic needs are met.  I also want to commend them for their efforts to communicate effectively with parents and to build trusting relationships so parents know their children are cared for and safe.

Today, I want to talk about some folks who have an impact on a lot of people on a daily basis.  October is National Principals Month and during this month we recognize the impact they have on the lives of others and the essential role principals play in making a school great.  This morning I want to recognize Elkin City Schools principals:  Mrs. Emily Rycroft, principal at EES; Dr. Jennifer Hall, principal at EMS; Mrs. Amanda Burton, principal at EHS; and, Dr. Pam Colbert, principal of the Global E-Learning Academy and Mrs. Emma Hatfield-Sidden, principal at the App State Academy at Elkin.

Mrs. Rycroft, Dr. Hall, Mrs. Burton, Dr. Colbert and Mrs. Sidden set the tone for their entire school. They are visible leaders who are friendly and approachable.

I am honored to work with leaders who not only set the academic tone for their individual schools, but also work as a group to share their vision for maintaining a school system that continues to work toward improvement and continued excellence.

October IS National Principals Month - Give a shout out on social media to a school principal and let them know how they have impacted your life!

This week’s WIFM “Spotlight on Elkin City Schools" is recorded by Dr. Myra Cox, Superintendent at Elkin City Schools and is sponsored by State Farm Insurance and your local State Farm Agent, Mr. Steve Owings.
