Featuring Fire Prevention Week

Fire Prevention Week is observed each year during the week of October 9th, in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire. The National Fire Protection Association is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week, which is held October 9-15.

Our theme this year is "Fire won't wait. Plan your escape."

This theme works to educate everyone about simple, yet important actions, they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe from home fires.

The Elkin Fire Department has partnered with Elkin Elementary to educate our students about fire safety. Some grade levels will walk to the fire station to take tours and others will get a visit from the fire station.

By being prepared, you can help keep your family safe from fire. Here are two easy steps you can take: test the smoke alarms in your house and create and practice a fire escape plan.

Thank you, Elkin Fire Department for keeping our community safe.
