Welcome to the Career and Technical Education Department (CTE)

What is Career and Technical Education (CTE)?
Career and Technical Education (CTE) is all about giving purpose to learning by connection what happens in the classroom to real-world skills and practical knowledge.

Our mission is to empower all students to become successful citizens, workers, and leaders in a global economy.  CTE provides a powerful pathway to achieve this by emphasizing:
  • Real-World Relevance: CTE ensures school is more relevant by emphasizing practical skills that directly apply to future careers and life.
  • Essential Skills: Programs contribute to broad educational achievement, strengthening basic skills like reading, writing, and mathematics while cultivating critical soft skills.
  • Future Readiness: Students learn to work independently and as part of a team, think creatively, solve problems, and utilize technology.

Whether a student plans to attend a community college, technical school, a four-year university, pursue a military service, or head directly into on-the-job training, CTE is the crucial first step on a pathway toward productive employment and engaged citizenship.
